This time it's Grand Theft Auto!
Take-Two announced today that GTAIV won't be released until sometime in 2008. Judging from the demo of the game recently, i am not surprised by the delay, as it looked far from finished, but it’s still hard not to be moaning about. The good thing is that GTAIV will certainly be more polished when it finally does come out, and that Rockstar won’t be sacrificing quality to get it out on time. Hopefully we won't get any more news on games being delayed! I I think i had enough of heartbreaks in one day!
Lair delayed!
Much anticipated PS3 exclusive game Lair by Factor 5 has been delayed to September. There were rumours circulating in the internet that it was pulled back from the actual release date (august14) due to low review score given by EGM, but other parties are saying that Factor 5 decided push back the release date to polish it's leadership board and trophy achievments with it's online features.
Hopefully it's good news for the gamers as Factor 5 wants to deliver an excellent game and a great online experiece. As for me, another month of waiting. Sigh.

In The Beginning....
I first started serious gaming 20 years ago on a trusty Apple II computer.... Back then all I had was this amber colored monitor with only 64k(!) RAM... Anyway remember these games??? Karateka... Choplifter... Ultima.... It was escapism, or rather a chance to live in another world, interact with digital characters and release the "boredom" of real life.Of course when you are young you have got less "distractions" ... you don't think about fast cars or women....The first console I owned - an Atari 2600 - no kidding. If you played it today, you'd be shocked to see pixels the size of giant lego bricks .... back then all you had was the gameplay, gameplay and gameplay...Alright no more strolling down memory lane of the history of computer gaming - cut to the era of the Playstation. I would deem myself a Playstation lover. Nintendo was never my thing - with my obsession with digital video formats starting with the CD-i, Video CD, DVD - the playstation was the first CD based console ever sold and it got me excited... CDs meant ease of storage and loads and loads of graphics data could be stored compared to the catridge format. When I got my first PS - it meant barely sleeping for that night as I played through my first batch of games - Tekken, Goal Storm (Winning Eleven series predecessor) and especially Final Fantasy VII. Sony got it right with PS1. PS2 was exciting because you bought a DVD capable player and now Sony I believe despite all its hiccups has really got it right with PS3. But I am not all Playstation. I was the first to buy a Dreamcast and I loved the console. So welcome to this blogsite. We (me and alex) would do our utmost to give the most impartial and fun reviews that we can do. We love the xBox 360 with its killer games like Gears of War...So that's it - my intro. Now on with the reviews....

Now-Gen, Next-Gen
My fingers are getting settled on the keyboard here at home (finally), the brain shifting and shuffling about what i'd write for my first post, jogging some memories and dialing up ideas on bringing some news on gaming; scoops, rants and raves of it.
My first next gen console; Xbox 360 from Microsoft has a year head start over it's next-gen competitors and it is pulling itself away from the race with it's Windows based OS ( easy system for game developers to work with), online enabled and home to most high profile online shooters ( think Gears of War, GWAR 2 and the upcoming Halo3) and a great way for people to play games; Achievements points. Just another way to brag to other gamers how you stayed up over your bedtime, skipped school, missed breakfast, lunch and dinner and sacrificed your shower to get that achievement point and rake up the GamerScore.
The Playstation 3 which i bought after i skipped 3 months of drinking at my neighbourhood pub (forgive me stout! i miss you too!) is physically big and a price to match it's shinny piano black finish. It promises and has the most advance graphic processor in the market but I still think the games don't look as good as it should but i guess the tide is turning, after the recent E3 (electronic entertaiment expo) with a stream of mouth watering, jaw dropping and eye popping games from the house of Sony. Online gaming is in dire need for a jump start and the PS3 online community is hungry for killer apps and games than folding@home. Home promises to be awesome and all but i want to have more games that allows me to go and frag someone across the continent. So here i am onto the most powerful console on the planet. Jump into the blu ray camp and divorcing my rumble for motion . I am still waiting.
The Nintendo Wii is cute but gimmicky - i guess it's the japanese way to see their women prancing about with a joy like stick on their hand. It is nothing like what we have seen. It's interactive, motion controlled pads are fun to play. Yes it's true, Wii brings some innovative and totally fresh idea on gaming but i doubt it will be a serious contender in the next year or so. The idea of me prancing about, moving my hands like i have spasms and bending down everytime i play hot shot golf is a novelty that will wear itself out. I think it's a great to do that, but 12 months down the road, i doubt it. Unless that Miyamoto guy has something up his sleeve.
As to who will i be in love with the most, i don't know- but it is a close call this one and i really can't decide. The Xbox360 is on a roll. The PS3 has the strongest brand power and legs to carry them thru the years to come (blu ray, cell processor). The Wii offering mass market friendly gameplay , come to think of it even my mom would be able to swing a interactive bat. Who know which one will i be sneaking off to see and spend time more.
